Blue Sapphire

Sapphires come in a wide range of colors, and each color has its own quality variations. Color has the most important influence on blue sapphire’s value. The most highly valued blue sapphires are velvety blue to violetish blue, in medium to medium dark tones. Preferred sapphires also have strong to vivid color saturation. The saturation should be as strong as possible without darkening the color and compromising brightness. Sapphires with these qualities command the highest prices per carat.

Color Sapphires

Sapphire is one of the most popular precious gemstone used in jewelries.  Sapphire is a variety of the mineral corundum, consisting of aluminium oxide with trace amounts of elements such as iron, titanium, chromium, copper, or magnesium.

Sapphire is one of the two gem-varieties of corundum, the other being ruby.  Blue is the best popular sapphire color, also they occur in other colors, including gray, black, yellow, orange, purple, and can be colorless. A pinkish orange variety of sapphire is called padparadscha, originally found in Sri Lanka, nowadays found in Madagascar and other parts of Africa.
